Benjamin Bridge Brut Reserve from Gaspereau Valley, Nova Scotia
Foreign Affair ‘Dream’ from Niagara Peninsula, Ontario – “A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, with 15% of the grapes dried in a process called “appassimento” which was made famous by the big Amarone wines of northeastern Italy. Rich and dark with notes of blackcurrent, raisin and coffee.”

Foreign Affair Winery, the Canadian pioneer in producing appassimento wines, and Zenato Winery, Italy’s prestigious producer of amarone wines, teamed together on June 13, 2017 for an extraordinary evening of Italian fare at the iconic Biagio Ristorante in downtown Toronto.
The dinner celebrated Canadian and Italian success in innovative premium winemaking. The very idea of such a joint event seemed remote a few years ago. Today it represents a testament of how a Canadian innovative winery can compete with the very best in the world–right here in our own backyard of Niagara.
The evening was a spectacular showpiece of appassimento excellence, from Italy (where it all began) and Canada (where it was further innovated with classic vinifera grapes and different climactic conditions).
This unique dinner offered an entertaining and educational experience featuring wines made exclusively in the appassimento style. All wines were carefully selected to be paired with the seasonal multi-course meal, inspired by Italian-Canadian culinary traditions, crafted by Biagio and his Executive Chef.
The Foreign Affair Winery is delighted to announce that Colossal Failure of the Modern Relationship had its theatrical release at the Carlton Cinema in Toronto on Friday, June 23. Enjoy the preview below:
Film Description: Through the main characters, Cat (Krista Bridges) and Freddy (Enrico Colantoni), we are taken to the honeymoon capital of the world where circumstance and the lush romantic setting create the perfect backdrop for fun, adventure and, ultimately, disaster. A comedy, Directed by Sergio Navarretta, written by Alessandra Piccione.

Watch this short video as Proprietor Len Crispino talks about how Foreign Affair Winery embraces innovation at every level by turning the ‘weaknesses’ of this delicate, thin-skinned grape and transformed it into wine of elegance, beauty and grace.
