Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

2015 ~ 750ml
14.2% alc./vol.

Tasting Notes
With a dense dark purple colour, the concentration of this wine on the nose is phenomenal with sweet black currant, dried cherry, kirsch, fig, vanilla, tobacco and oak. This wine has a BIG palate with dry, smooth tannins. Flavours of ripe cherry, baking spices, and dried currant are dominant, leading to a long, spicy finish with subtle oak. Enjoy now from a decanter or cellar for 10+ years.

Winemaking Notes

The 2015 vintage saw a reduced crop due to a cold winter. The vines produced fruit with a beautiful balance of flavours with crisp acidity. The growing season was not too hot or wet which allowed very even ripening. A milder December accelerated the appassimento drying process (45 days, 20% of the juice) while retaining the fresh fruit flavours. This wine was then aged in select French and American oak barrels for 18 months before bottling.

Wine and Food Pairing
Suggested food pairings include grilled red meats, lean cuts like tenderloin, T-bone, and NY Strip work particularly well. Beef Bourguignon, Osso Bucco, Tourtiere, Roasted Vegetables, Lasagna, Ceasar Salad, dark chocolate, dried figs and charcuterie, firm and blue cheeses.

Product Description

Past Reviews:

Foreign Affair Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 (92 points)— 40% of the fruit was dried and the wine was aged for 18-20 months in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak. It has a deep, dark burgundy colour in the glass and reveals rich black currants, graphite, dark plums, mocha, nutmeg and cassis fruit. This is a big, bold, rich and nicely aged Cab at this point with flavourful dark fruits, a mouthful of spice and persistence through the finish. It’s a heady wine, thrilling in fact, if you like your wines with power and personality. Cellar or drink now with boldly spiced grilled meats.
