Tasting notes
Lots of complexity on the nose. Aromas of ripe red fruit (ripe dark cherry, raspberry, currant), subtle black fruit (black cherry, blackberry, stewed mulberry) and hints of oak, lots of baking spice and notes of fresh sharpened graphite. A big, bold wine with lots of complexity! Flavours of ripe red fruit such as tart raspberries and cherries, supported by gentle notes of vanilla, cloves and baking spice.
Food pairing
Pair Temptress 2018 with delectable dishes such as Chicken cacciatore, Blackened chicken, Bolognese, Beef Wellington, goat cheese & herb stuffed mushrooms, prosciutto-wrapped figs, baked brie with jam preserves, charcuterie boards, blue cheese & dark chocolate - for a truly unparalleled experience!
Winemaker notes
Cold winter temperatures on New Year’s Eve 2017 coupled with a very hot summer growing season and a wet fall, gave us a slight reduction in crop due to winter injury and drought stress in the vineyard. The warm growing season was a blessing for red varietals that weathered the winter temperatures giving very ripe grapes and an early harvest overall. Aged 18 months in French and American oak barrels (35% new) and a blend of medium and medium plus toasts. This wine is big and complex with smooth, silky yet firm tannins upon release and will continue to develop in your cellar for another 7+ years depending on your taste preferences.
