A celebration of Canadian excellence – the label on this wine reads “Sorry” on the front, and “Not Sorry” on the back. A statement which speaks to the quality of VQA wine being something Canadians should be wildly proud of, and unapologetic for. On the nose are layers of fresh ripe cherry, currants, dried fig, cigar tobacco, vanilla bean, toasted oak and spice. A bold, flavourful red with elegant flavours of ripe black cherry, dried Mission fig and currants. With silky tannins and a long, dry finish.
The 2016 vintage was hot and sunny, the vines produced fruit with very ripe flavour's and lower acidity – a great Niagara vintage! A portion of the harvest was set aside to dry for 90 days before being pressed. This wine then spent 18 months maturing in French oak barrels. The limited-edition magnum of Apologetic Red is drinking beautifully now but will continue to evolve in your cellar through to the year 2031.
This wine pairs perfectly with osso bucco, rack of lamb, chateaubriand, hearty stews, wild mushroom risotto with truffle, charcuterie and cheese boards, with a fine cigar or by itself with good friends!
