The nose on this wine is layered with aromas of ripe black cherry, blackcurrant, sweet vanilla, subtle smoke, spice and violet. The palate is full bodied and smooth with intricate flavours of black cherry, dark plum, blueberry, black currants, leather, spices and vanilla. The Temptress has complexity at every layer and a long, dry finish.
Two years (2013 & 2014) of harsh winters resulted in a slightly reduced harvest for the 2015 vintage. The grapes were smaller in size giving a higher skin to juice ratio. This produced a wine with deep colour and complex flavours. The grapes were harvested from mid October to mid November, with a portion set aside to dry for 60 days. After pressing and fermentation the wine was aged in French and American oak barrels for 18 months. The best barrels from our individual vineyard blocks are chosen for the Temptress blend. The 2015 vintage was the first time that there was Malbec in the blend, so there are 5 Bordeaux varieties in this blend.
This wine is tasting exceedingly well now, but will continue to evolve in your cellar through to the year 2025.
If possible decant this wine and pair it with porterhouse steak, bison filet, prime rib, roasts, charcuterie and aged cheeses, dark chocolate, or on its own.
