Tasting notes

With aromas of dark cherry, plums, dried figs, mulberry compote, violets, cigar box, leather and sarsaparilla. The palate has rich flavours to match the nose, with subtle spice and vanilla on the long finish. Enjoy now after time in a decanter, or cellar through to 2028.

Winemaker notes

The 2019 vintage of Apologetic consists of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Cabernet Franc, all sourced from our Crispino Vineyard in the Vinemount Ridge Sub Appellation in Niagara. After drying & fermentation the wine was aged in barrel for 31 months.

My wife and I enjoyed this wine as part of the wine club members Blind Tasting Flight this past weekend.
The 2019 Apologetic is showing beautifully right now — vibrant, silky, and quietly confident. The wine opens with lifted red cherry, dried raspberry, subtle sage, and a gentle cedar warmth that never overwhelms. On the palate it’s medium-bodied, fresh, and impeccably balanced, offering just enough structure to frame its juicy core.

We had it with the fennel-tomato pork meatballs, it was a standout. The wine’s bright acidity cut through the richness of the pork, while its herbal notes played seamlessly with the fennel. The soft tannins wrapped around the tomato base without clashing, creating a clean, savoury harmony from start to finish.

A true value in the glass that elevates a comforting dish.

It’s full body, long finish served slightly chilled is amazing.

Apologetic red 2019 is fantastic, i wish i had 10 cases in my cellar!
