Apologetic Red 2024 is Foreign Affair Winery's signature red — a Niagara VQA blend of 50% Cabernet Franc made in full appassimento style and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced 80% from the Crispino Estate and 20% from select growers. Aged 18 months in 50% new American and French oak and limited to just 140 cases, this is the Ontario red built for a very special occasion — and, in the winery's own words, for the not-so-special occasions you have no need to apologize for either.

Tasting notes
Aromas: very intense — smoked tobacco leaf, cardamom, dried prunes, dates, blackberry, and cinnamon. Palate: those aromas carry through, joined by fresh fruit and sandalwood. Body: fairly full with plush tannins, balanced medium-soft acidity, medium-high alcohol, and very long length. A high-intensity wine that sustains in the glass.
Food pairing
Red meat, beef Wellington, rich beef ragù, mushroom bourguignon, chilli and black bean sweet potato, bittersweet dark chocolate cake.
Winemaker notes
The last vintage of Apologetic Red was made in 2019. This is a beautiful wine, rich, bold and intense. Perfect for cellaring 10-15 years.
