With aromas of fresh ripe cherry, blackberry, blueberry preserves, smoke, black fig and mocha on the nose. The palate has bold, smooth flavours of blackberry, cherry, black figs, sweet yet smoky vanilla and anise.
Pair this wine with roasted lamb, BBQ ribs, smoked brisket, roast beef, charcuterie and aged cheeses, dark chocolate, or enjoy by itself.
The 2016 vintage was hot and sunny, the vines produced fruit with very ripe flavours and lower acidity – a great Niagara vintage! The Syrah grapes were in excellent health after the 2016 growing season. They were harvested in early November, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes harvested just a few days later and set aside to dry in the appassimento method for 100 days. The wine spent 19 months aging in French and American oak barrels. This wine is drinking beautifully already, especially after time in a decanter. The Syrah will benefit from time in your cellar and age well through to the year 2026.
