The nose on this wine leaps out of the glass with notes of black pepper and ripe black cherry, dark plum, spicy blackcurrant, and subtle smoke. The palate is bold and intense with flavours of ripe cherry, plum, blackberry, and black pepper on the lush, long finish
Enjoy this wine alongside grilled red meats, lamb, venison, blue cheeses, charcuterie, dark chocolate or on its own from a decanter.
Two years (2013 & 2014) of harsh winters resulted in a slightly reduced harvest for the 2015 vintage. The grapes were smaller in size giving a higher skin to juice ratio. This produced a wine with deep colour and complex flavours. A very limited amount of perfectly ripe Syrah was sourced from our vineyard manager’s Twenty Mile Bench vineyard. This small batch of grapes harvested in late October quickly revealed beautiful aromas during its fermentation and was reserved for a limited release wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon appassimento component supports the power of the weight of the Syrah while keeping the single varietal focus. The drying period was 60 days, and after pressing the wine was aged 18 months in French and American oak barrels. Only two barrels of this wine were produced. It is drinking nicely now, especially after time in a decanter. The Syrah will continue to evolve in your cellar through to 2025.
