||With aromas of dried blackcurrant, black cherry preserve, savoury spices, fresh black fig and subtle oak and vanilla. The palate has flavours of cherry and blackberry with accents of spices like fresh cracked black peppercorn. The ripe fruit flavours are balanced with the smooth bold tannins, oak and acidity.
||The 2017 vintage was cooler than average, a warm trend just before harvest allowed for the grapes to fully ripen. The Syrah was hand-picked then small batch fermented and pressed into French and American oak barrels for 16 months of aging. Blended with 14% of our Appassimento Cabernet Sauvignon for added richness and complexity. The cooler growing season combined with the warm trend during harvest allowed for full ripening with retained acidity to balance the fruit, tannins, and oak. This wine is drinking nicely now (2019), but would benefit from time in you cellar. Ideally enjoy this wine 2021 through to 2027.
||Pair this wine with dishes such as charcuterie and firm aged or blue cheese, arancini, eggplant caponata, peppercorn crusted roast beef, rosemary lamb and creamy mushroom gnocchi.
||92 Points - Tony Aspler, The Wine Guy "Vinified from a portion of dried grapes. Deep, dark ruby colour; cedary, spicy, blackberry nose with a tobacco note; medium to full-bodied, dry, savoury, blackberry flavour with a herbal tinge. Beautifully balanced with well-integrated oak, mellow tannins and mouth-freshening acidity."
